For the value of sports
We pray that sports may be an instrument of peace, encounter and dialogue among cultures and nations, and that they promote values such as respect, solidarity and personal growth.

20 June – St Alban
FIRST HOLY COMMUNION MASS LAST WEEK
We ask God to bless our children: Emily, Lucas, Noah and Ralph, who made their 1st Holy Communion with us last Saturday. And a special thank you to Phil & Sarah Dawson who ran the preparation sessions and organised the service.
Registration forms for next year’s Year 4 children will be available in early July. Please help to spread the word.
CONFIRMATION CONGRATULATIONS
Samuel Laithwaite was confirmed on 2 June by Archbishop John Sherrington at St Mary’s Euxton. Many congratulations, Samuel – and may God bless you today and every day.
Ss PETER & PAUL FEAST DAY CELEBRATIONS
Save the date: SATURDAY 27 JUNE, after 5.00pm Mass
To celebrate the feast of Ss Peter & Paul we will be holding a special evening with a hot meal & light-hearted games in the Parish Centre. It’s just 2 weeks away!
This is a great opportunity to meet other parishioners and catch up with old friends over a hot meal and a drink. Everyone is welcome: adults and children, parishioners, partners and friends.
Full details were published last week, but if you missed the leaflet, please collect one from the narthex this evening. Simply complete & place it the envelope in the collection basket next week,
or post through the presbytery door. This would be really appreciated as the Fundraising Group needs to have an idea of numbers for catering. Also, if you could donate a prize for the raffle, that would be much appreciated.
Please place your raffle prizes in the labelled box, in the narthex.
We look forward to seeing you all again – no age restrictions – all welcome!
Ged Tyrer, Chairman, SSP&P Fundraising Group

CHURCH FLOWERS – HELP WELCOMED
We’re always grateful to our flower arrangers, Ann & Tony, who make sure our church is filled with beautiful flower arrangements every week. They would welcome help from anyone who is interested in learning more about this really important role. Please have a word with them after the Vigil Mass, or contact the parish office, in order to find out a bit more about it.
2 WALKING DAYS: CROSTON COFFEE DAY & MAWDESLEY TEA PARTY
Croston on Saturday 4 July
Mawdesley on Saturday 11 July & Sunday 12 July
Parishioners are invited to get involved, either helping out on the day, or walking.
There will be an ecumenical service at 11am on Sunday 12 July, in the marquee on Mawdesley cricket field. Everyone is very welcome to join in the fun!
Please contact Rev Tracy Marshall, rector of Croston & Mawdesley, on 01772 973826 / 07837 624872, or via email: rector@3churches.gmail.com to find out more.
CHURCH FLOWERS
We’re always grateful to our flower arrangers, Ann & Tony, who make sure our church is filled with beautiful flower arrangements every week. Many of the flowers are sourced from their garden and also the grounds of the church, but inevitably many flowers also need to be bought and this incurs costs. Any donations therefore are particularly welcome and will help to ensure that our altars continue to provide a fitting tribute to Our Lord.
OFFERTORY ENVELOPES / GIFT AID / STANDING ORDERS!
If you are a taxpayer then you can easily help the parish to claim 25% extra on top of every donation you make – and it won’t cost you a penny! Eg: a donation of £10 per week would result in £12.50 going to the church. If you are able to use gift aid, please collect a form from the porch on your way out today, and return it to the Parish Office asap.
If you are a taxpayer who makes regular cash donations, please consider using an offertory envelope instead of just placing your ‘loose’ donations in the basket. This is really important: it can bring in more than £1000 to the church every year, as we’ll be able to claim gift aid directly on every donation you make. It won’t cost you anything at all, but it will make a huge difference to our finances.
Please contact the Parish Office if you’d like to use envelopes – they are free!
Even better – you can donate ‘painlessly’ each month by setting up a standing order with your bank. Forms are available in the porch.
DON’T FORGET! PARISH FOODBANK – DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME
Thank you for donations already received, which have been taken to the foodbank centre at St Mary’s in Leyland. They are particularly short of tinned pasta, tinned meat / fish and puddings.
Please check that donations are well before their BB date!
Thank you all for your kind-hearted generosity. It makes such a big difference.

MUSICAL TREAT FOR THE WEEK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rn4jI1LscJg&list=RDrn4jI1LscJg&start_radio=1
The sublime singing of soprano Emma Kirkby does full justice to Haydn’s aria, ‘With Verdure Clad, the Fields Appear’ from his great oratorical piece, ‘Creation’. Perfect for a summertime reflection.
WITH EVERY BLESSING FOR ALL PARISHIONERS FOR THE NEXT WEEK
