PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR MAY
For working conditions
Let us pray that through work, each person might find fulfilment, families might be sustained in dignity, and that society might be humanised.

HABEMUS PAPEM!
We welcome our new Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV. On Thursday 8th May many of us will have seen the white smoke rise from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel at around 5.10pm UK time.
An American (also with Peruvian citizenship) from Chicago, who joined the Augustinian order and served as a missionary in Peru, Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost was elected Pope – the 267th Bishop of Rome and successor to St Peter. His first words as Pope were “Peace be with all of you”.
We pray that Pope Leo may be blest and filled with the Holy Spirit, and prove to be a worthy successor to St Peter, bringing unity, peace, compassion and building bridges in this troubled world. Amen

2nd COLLECTION THIS WEEK:  Priests’ Training Fund

11 MAY – WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS
Dear friends, on this day in particular, but also in the ordinary pastoral life of our communities, I ask the Church to continue to promote vocations. May she touch the hearts of the faithful and enable each of them to discover with gratitude God’s call in their lives, to find courage to say ‘yes’ to God. ~ Pope Francis

BAPTISM
We welcome GRACE PATRICIA MARIE GIBBONS into God’s family.  Grace was baptised here last week.  May she and her family be blessed and continue to grow in faith and love.

EASTERTIDE ANTHEM TO OUR LADY
Queen of heaven, rejoice, alleluia!
Regina coeli, laetare, alleluia!
for he whom you were worthy to bear, alleluia!
Quia quem meruisti portare, alleluia!
has risen as he said, alleluia!
Resurrexit sicut dixit, alleluia!
Pray for us to God, alleluia!
Ora pro nobis Deum, alleluia!

INSTALLATION OF OUR NEW ARCHBISHOP
Bishop John Sherrington will be installed as Archbishop of Liverpool in the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King on Tuesday, 27 May at 12 noon.
Our family of parishes is considering organising a minibus/coach is there is sufficient interest in attending. If you would like to attend, please email the parish office / leave a message on the answer phone by 16 May.  Thank you.

CHURCH FLOWERS
We’re always grateful to our flower arrangers, Ann & Tony and Shirley & Paul, who makes sure our church is filled with beautiful flower arrangements every week.  Many of the flowers are sourced from their garden and also the grounds of the church, but inevitably many flowers also need to be bought and this incurs costs.  Any donations therefore are particularly welcome and will help to ensure that our altars continue to provide a fitting tribute to Our Lord.

DON’T FORGET! PARISH FOODBANK – DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME
Thank you for donations already received, which have been taken to the foodbank centre at St Mary’s in Leyland.   They are particularly short of tinned pasta, tinned meat / fish and puddings.
Please check that donations are well before their BB date!
Thank you all for your kind-hearted generosity.  It makes such a big difference.

HOW TO DONATE TO THE CHURCH
Standing Orders
– Many find this an easier alternative to trying to remember to bring cash along each week.  Forms are available in the porch / from the Parish Office.  You can determine the amount and when it is deducted each month.  Please post compoleted forms to your bank.
Envelopes – easy, because they can be prepared before coming to church.  They afford some ‘privacy’ for the amount donated. Please contact the Parish Office so we can arrange this.
Cash / cheque donations each week and very gratefully received.
Gift Aid If you are a taxpayer then you can easily help the parish to claim 25% extra on top of every donation you make.  Eg: your donation of £10 per week could become £12.25  going to the church. Filling in a simple form to register your name and address means we can claim an additional 25% of your gift
Please collect a form from the narthex on your way out today, complete and return to the Parish Office.
THANK YOU for your continuing support and generosity in these very challenging times.

MUSICAL TREAT FOR THE WEEK

What could be more appropriate this week, than the very traditional Catholic hymn of welcome for a new pope…?
