Communion antiphon: Since you are children of God, God has sent into your hearts the Spirit of his Son, the Spirit who cries out: Abba, Father.

REFLECTION FOR HOLY TRINITY
Our God is a God of community, friendship, love and unity: God is three persons, who are One God.  We are made in his image, so therefore we must also reflect community, friendship, love and unity.
The fall of Adam and its subsequent impact on Man’s relationship with God has made this a huge challenge and current conflicts around the world demonstrate this all too clearly.
Yet, whenever we hear of individuals or groups of people performing great acts of courage and generosity, then we know that God is not far off.  This is the sort of world that God wants for all of us.
He guides us and leads us towards the Truth.  We are never alone – the three persons of the Holy Trinity are always there, inviting us to place our trust and our faith in them.

PRAYER INTENTIONS THIS WEEK
Archbishop Malcolm has asked us to pray the following at this time of crisis:
God Our Father, each person is precious to You.
You are the Giver of life.
Have mercy on us and protect us at this time, as the coronavirus threatens health and life.
You are an ever-present Helper in time of trouble.
Watch over those who are suffering, give strength to those who are aiding the sick and give courage to all in this time of anxiety.
We ask this of you in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Pope Francis’ prayer intention for June:
For Christian families around the world
We pray for Christian families around the world, may they embody and experience unconditional love and advance in holiness in their everyday lives.

Let us pray…
That all Christians may strive for holiness by repenting of past sins;
That all who doubt or distrust the Gospel message may recognise the risen Christ in the goodness and kindness of others and learn to turn to God in faith and love;
That the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ for all people may teach us that there is no such thing as a worthless life, or a person God does not love;
That as Covid restrictions are lifted and more people receive their vaccinations, may the bonds of our relationships be renewed and strengthened

We pray now in the words Jesus gave us:
Our Father, who art in heaven…

SPECIAL FEASTS THIS WEEK
13 June – St Anthony of Padua
16 June – St Richard of Chichester, remembered for his generosity to the poor

COFFEE MORNING / TRAIDCRAFT FAYRE – 19 JUNE
You are warmly invited to the Parish Centre for a cup of coffee and a chat with old (and new) friends, after Mass next Sunday – many of whom we’ve had little chance to see over the last two years.  Come along and see what the Traidcraft stall has to offer – lots of new and interesting items. Everyone is very welcome!

A PRESENT FROM CAFOD
On the wall above the noticeboard in the narthex (on the right as you enter church), you will see a really lovely colourful cross.  This is a special Thank You present to the parish for our support for CAFOD over many years.  The cross has been blessed by Bishop Tom Naylon.
CAFOD will be making an announcement soon about the launch of a new project, so watch this space…!

DON’T FORGET! PARISH FOODBANK – DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME
Thank you for donations already received, which have been taken to the foodbank centre at St Mary’s in Leyland.  Deliveries will be made every other week.  These foodstuffs really do make a huge difference.
Local families are really beginning to struggle and food donations continue to be very welcome.

1st COMMUNION PREPARATION
Please remember our children who will be making their 1st Holy Communion here next Saturday, 18 June, in a special service.  We pray that God will bless them and their families as they embark on a new journey of friendship and love with Our Lord.

WEEKLY COVID UP-DATE FOR MAWDESLEY & CROSTON
Fewer and fewer people are testing now, so weekly figures lack the accuracy that they used to have.  The weekly Office for National Statistics (ONS) figures, published every Thursday, have always been the most accurate.
Please see Coronavirus (COVID-19) – Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk)
A lot of people are still extremely worried about catching Covid, so smaller churches (like Ss Peter & Paul’s) will still encourage parishioners to wear face masks, in order to protect everyone from possible transmission.

LET’S KEEP TALKING – SUPPORT FOR ANYONE SUFFERING IN ANY WAY AS A RESULT OF THE PANDEMIC
Please pick up a leaflet on your way into/out of church, from Lancs & S Cumbria Mental Health Support.  Help is out there if you’re struggling to cope, or you know someone who is struggling.

MUSICAL TREATS FOR THE WEEK
This week’s offering is specially for our 1st Communion children:
Sister Act – Hail Holy Queen (Hi Def) – YouTube
A lovely clip from the Whoopie Goldberg film, ‘Sister Act’, where the nuns sing an anthem to Our Lady in an unusually up tempo setting – which proves very popular with youngsters!

WITH EVERY BLESSING FOR PARISHIONERS & FAMILIES THIS NEXT WEEK

THE ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.
I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.

I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.

Instead of putting money in offertory envelopes each week, those who are able to make an offering are asked to either:

  • Write a monthly cheque (payable to ‘Ss Peter & Paul Church’) and post to the presbytery with a covering letter and one offertory envelope for gift aid purposes.
  • Contact the office (by phone or email) to request a Standing Order mandate for your bank –

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you would like to discuss this further.
