PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JUNE
Migrants & Refugees
Let us pray that migrants fleeing from war or hunger, forced to undertake journeys fraught with danger and violence, may find welcome and new living opportunities in their host countries.

SAINTS & FEAST DAYS THIS WEEK
3 June – St Charles Lwanga & Companions
5 June – St Boniface
6 June – St Norbert
7 June – *Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
*This Solemnity has been endorsed by many saints and Popes since the early days of the Church.  In 2006, Pope Benedict XVI wrote: By encouraging devotion to the Heart of Jesus, we encourage believers to open themselves to the mystery of God and of his love and to allow themselves to be transformed by it….it is still a fitting task for Christians to continue to deepen their relationship with the Heart of Jesus, in such a way as to revive their faith in the saving love of God and to welcome Him more closely into their lives.

SUDAN CRISIS APPEAL
Our generous parishioners have raised the magnificent total of £497.00 to help to ease the terrible suffering in the Sudan.  Thank you so much for your kindness.  This important appeal is supported across the Archdiocese and it’s hoped that the money will prove an effective start to the relief work that is already taking place.  Please remember the generous workers and volunteers in your prayers.

SPONSORED WALK FOR MARIE CURIE
Tom Molyneux is coming to the end of his marathon walk round all 214 of the ‘Wainwright’ peaks in the Lake District – approx. 350 miles.  He’s done this to raise funds for Marie Curie, which cares for people with cancer.  Anyone wishing to donate to this worthy cause may donate online, via Just Giving at www.justgiving.com/page/thomas-molyneux  , or see Tom, once he’s back in church, after this tremendous feat.

DON’T FORGET! PARISH FOODBANK – DONATIONS ARE ALWAYS WELCOME
Thank you for donations already received, which have been taken to the foodbank centre at St Mary’s in Leyland.   They are particularly short of tinned pasta, tinned meat / fish and puddings.
Please check that donations are well before their BB date!
Thank you all for your kind-hearted generosity.  It makes such a big difference.

HOW TO DONATE TO THE CHURCH
Standing Orders
– Many find this an easier alternative to trying to remember to bring cash along each week.  Forms are available in the porch / from the Parish Office.  You can determine the amount and when it is deducted each month.  Please post compoleted forms to your bank.
Envelopes – easy, because they can be prepared before coming to church.  They afford some ‘privacy’ for the amount donated. Please contact the Parish Office so we can arrange this.
Cash / cheque donations each week and very gratefully received.
Gift Aid If you are a taxpayer then you can easily help the parish to claim 25% extra on top of every donation you make.  Eg: your donation of £10 per week could become £12.25  going to the church. Filling in a simple form to register your name and address means we can claim an additional 25% of your gift
Please collect a form from the narthex on your way out today, complete and return to the Parish Office.
THANK YOU for your continuing support and generosity in these very challenging times.

OPPORTUNITIES TO GET INVOLVED IN THE PARISH
Now that parish activities are starting up again, there are a number of opportunities to become a bit more involved in parish life, particularly: stewarding/welcomers, driving deliveries to St Mary’s foodbank every other week, singing with the choir, flower arranging, church cleaning, altar serving, fund-raising.  Help is welcome from all ages!  Please contact the Parish Office by email or ring on Fridays, in order to find out more.

MUSICAL TREAT FOR THE WEEK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK3TeWqSAZk
The choristers of King’s College Cambridge sing a very traditional version of Cesar Franck’s well-known motet in praise of the body and blood of Christ – the ‘bread of angels’: Panis Aangelicus
