CATHOLIC BISHOPS OF ENGLAND & WALES ON THE GENERAL ELECTION, 4 JULY
Our bishops have identified 7 key areas for Catholic voters to consider when deciding who to vote for this next Thursday: domestic poverty, family life and taxation, education, environment, human rights & peace-building, criminal justice, international relations, migration, life issues
President of the Bishops’ Conference, Cardinal Vincent Nichols, is asking voters to be active rather than passive to engage with politicians on the key issues. “You want to know what your candidate will think and say on your behalf when that candidate gets into Parliament,” says the Cardinal. “I would like to put forward a theme for us all to think about. How do we seek to construct a society in which families can flourish? That’s the bedrock”.
Please check the link for more information, plus hear the full message from Cardinal Nichols on https://www.cbcew.org.uk/election24/

THANK YOU LETTER FROM CAFOD
Please see the letter in the narthex from CAFOD in response to our recent donation of £497.00 for the Sudan Crisis Appeal.  There is a Thank You poster also.  A total of £769,871.00 has been raised so far for Sudan, so £500 from parishioners has made a very important contribution to that.  Thank you, everyone.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
A big thank you to all those who support our monthly Church lottery, creating funds for our church and estate.
We were able to contribute 50% of the costs of painting the exteriors of the windows of the church recently.  Also, to fund the new hydrangea pots at the side of the church following the uprooting of the shrubbery, as a consequence of the damp issues the plants were causing to the building.  We appreciate all the lottery members for their years of support.
Thank you.

Please check that donations are well before their BB date!

HOW TO DONATE TO THE CHURCH
Standing Orders
– Many find this an easier alternative to trying to remember to bring cash along each week.  Forms are available in the porch / from the Parish Office.  You can determine the amount and when it is deducted each month.  Please post compoleted forms to your bank.
Envelopes – easy, because they can be prepared before coming to church.  They afford some ‘privacy’ for the amount donated. Please contact the Parish Office so we can arrange this.
Cash / cheque donations each week and very gratefully received.
Gift Aid If you are a taxpayer then you can easily help the parish to claim 25% extra on top of every donation you make.  Eg: your donation of £10 per week could become £12.25  going to the church. Filling in a simple form to register your name and address means we can claim an additional 25% of your gift
Please collect a form from the narthex on your way out today, complete and return to the Parish Office.
THANK YOU for your continuing support and generosity in these very challenging times.

MUSICAL TREAT FOR THE WEEK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRQK4jfyYJU
This week’s treat comes from a less well-known German composer of the 16th century, Richard Dering.  Here’s his beautiful motet for two sopranos: Duo Seraphim – truly sounding like angels’ voices.
